9:00 Hour Classes

 

The Book of James (9:00) -- Room 3191

This discussion-oriented class is proceeding slowly through the book of James, gaining perspective from a wide variety of other scriptures along the way.

Home Improvement (9:00) -- Room 430

Aimed at growing in Christ and in love for one another through fellowship, worship, and teaching in an informal environment. Various topics or books of the Bible are studied. Format includes table discussion. Jaime Burnett does the introduction and wrap up and sets up questions for class discussion. There are also regular visits from Valley missionaries.

Women of Faith (9:00) -- Campus Kitchen

We are women of all ages who get together to encourage and support each other. Our desire is for intimacy with Christ and fostering spiritual transformation -- through prayer, discussion, and Bible study. Our focus for this year is the John Ortberg book series on Spiritual Transformation. Each book in this series of topical studies includes a short reading, spiritual exercise, and Bible study.

10:45 Hour Classes

Truth Seekers (10:45) -- Room 430

Currently studying the Gospel of Matthew. Each class includs prayer and Bible study. We enjoy fellowship and snacks together in class and have lunch together every six weeks or so after class. Visiting missionaries are always welcome and the class enjoys fellowship with them. We graciously welcome new people.

Life Application (10:45) -- Room 410

This on-going class combines a missionary focus with fellowship and application of scriptures to life, currently in the book of James, Peter, and John. Format: pre-class food and fellowship, announcements, inspirational or missionary message, prayer and praise, sermon review, Bible study.

Paul's Letters to the Churches (10:45) -- Room 3171

Currently studying in 2nd Corinthians. We are studying the Letters chronologically, so our next study will be Romans, which should begin in late January. This is a lesson/lecture format with questions to involve the class.

Church History/Wisdom Books (10:45) -- Room 440

The class is continuing to cover Church History- people, organizations and events. Currently the class is studying the 4th Century (300-400 AD). Major events include the conversion of the Roman Emperor, Constantine, to the Christian faith and the First Ecumenical Council at Nicea (Nicene Creed). After each century of Church History, the class conducts a study in the Wisdom Books of the Old Testament (Job, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Song of Solomon). The class participants are supportive of each other and Valley Church in prayer, both in class and throughout the week.

Women of the Word (10:45) -- Room 101

The Women of the Word Sunday School class is for women of all ages and stages. We are currently following the sermon scriptures for topics of discussion and application. The group is mutually supportive through prayer and practical help to each other. As outreach, we support missionaries and provide gift baskets for people who may benefit from the caring concern, prayer, and contact offered by individuals in the class.

Small Group Korean Bible Study (10:45) -- Room 3271

Currently studying the book of James, using additional reading material to help with the study. The language used in class is Korean.

Chinese-English Bilingual Sunday School Class (10:45) -- Room 420

Chinese language small group Bible Study. They are studying Know the Truth, which covers Romans 1-8. This class will be taught in both English and Chinese.

Currently studying the book of Revelation.
